Structural steel erection is the work of taking fabricated steel — columns, beams, joists and braces — and assembling it on site into a plumb, square, secure frame. JCA Steel LLC, doing business as JCA Roofing & Steel, provides steel erection for projects in Salt Lake City and across Utah.
Steel is where our name comes from. Because the same crew can also handle the rebar and concrete below and the roof above, steel erection with JCA fits naturally into a foundation-to-roof scope.
What steel erection includes
A typical steel erection scope includes unloading and staging steel, setting columns on anchor bolts, hoisting and connecting beams, installing bracing, and bolting or welding connections according to the project drawings. The frame is plumbed and aligned as it goes up so the trades that follow have accurate lines to work from.
Commercial and residential steel
Steel shows up on commercial buildings, warehouses and shops, and increasingly in homes — steel beams that open up floor plans, steel posts, and moment frames. The scale differs, but the essentials are the same: follow the engineered drawings, work safely at height, and make every connection right.
Working with the foundation
Steel is only as accurate as what it sits on. Anchor bolt placement and elevation in the concrete matter for how columns land. When JCA is also handling the rebar and concrete, that coordination happens within one crew instead of between companies.
Planning and site logistics
Erection depends on site access, crane placement, delivery sequencing and weather. Utah wind and winter conditions can affect lifts, so scheduling is planned with the site and season in mind. We walk through the scope and schedule with you before mobilizing.
